Dimple Creation
Natural dimples are due to a structural variation in the muscular anatomy of the face. In the right location, dimples are seen to enhance facial attractiveness.
How are dimples surgically created?
Dimples can be surgically created without any external scars and under local anaesthesia. This is done through an incision on the inside of the mouth, where precise sutures are placed to approximate the underside of the external skin at where you desire your dimple. It is a comfortable procedure which takes less than an hour to perform.
What to expect after a dimple creation procedure
After the procedure, there may be some swelling and bruising which resolves after a week or so. Pain is usually well controlled with oral painkillers, and infection is uncommon. During the initial healing phase, the dimple will always be present. Done properly, after a couple of months, the dimple will be present only when you smile.
Dimple creation is dependent on individual preference and should involve a thorough discussion with your plastic surgeon, who will strive to attain the most lasting, natural appearing dimple for you.
