Enlarged or torn earlobe holes are commonly caused by prolonged use of earrings and/or acute trauma to the earlobe. These deformities can be repaired quite simply under local anaesthesia. However, plastic surgeons take these repairs a step further by utilizing local tissue rearrangement, meticulous suture techniques, and post-procedural scar management with pressure therapy, to restore the natural appearance of the ear lobe with minimally visible scars. New ear piercings can be done in the newly repaired ear lobe, sometimes even in the same sitting.
