The eyebrow blends with the subunits of the eye, and appropriately positioned helps with creating a pleasing facial appearance. The normal eyebrow should be at or just superior to the rim of bone at the upper eye. In ladies, there is usually an identifiable brow peak between the middle and lateral third of the eyebrow, whilst in men the eyebrow is usually horizontal. A droopy eyebrow can contribute significantly to a droopy upper eyelid and must be taken into consideration when performing upper eyelid surgery. It can be an important contributor to the ptotic upper eyelid.
If the forehead does not need to be addressed simultaneously, the brow can be positioned via a browpexy. This can be done directly via an incision, or concurrent with an incisional upper blepharoplasty approach. Your plastic surgeon will assess your upper eyelid as well as the eyebrow and forehead to recommend the most appropriate management.
