An often overlooked but important aspect of facial rejuvenation is the neck. An attractive neck does not droop, has minimal lines (rhytids) in repose, has a smooth contour between the jaw and the neck, and shows the attractive jawline.
How is a necklift performed?
A necklift can be performed in isolation, but more commonly in conjunction with a facelift. Structures that are altered in a necklift include skin, fat, platysma muscle and potentially part of the salivary glands. The 2 common incisions used in accessing the neck are the post-auricular (behind the ear) and the submental (beneath the chin) incisions. Each has their pros and cons and can be used together for more powerful results.
What to expect after a necklift
Procedural processes and recovery are similar to facelifting procedures. During your consultation, Dr Adrian will assess your face and neck, discuss your desires and, together with you, decide which procedures would be best for the neck.
