An arm lift, otherwise known as a brachioplasty, is performed for excess skin and fat which mainly accumulates in the upper arm and can sometimes extend to the armpit area. The procedure is suitable for those in whom loose skin is the main issue, and involves careful removal of the excess skin to reduce risk of nerve injury whilst placing the resultant scar in a well-hidden position on the inside of the arm. Post-procedure, scar therapy and compression garments will be instituted to help with the healing process. Complications are rare, but do include potential seroma, wound breakdown, numbness, or bad scarring.
